    Armenia travel

This small but fast developing, landlocked country is one of the oldest in the world, and there is a surprising beauty in its stark rocky countryside, where culture and cultivation stand out in contrast against the stony background. Orchards and vineyards provide unexpected colour, and historic cities and monasteries are perched on scenic mountaintops or in temperate rain forests. In Yerevan, the capital, street life is blossoming, with outdoor cafes sprouting up during warmer months. Armenia has history dating back to three millennia and Yerevan is older than Rome. The first Christian State in the world to have accepted Christianity as the sole religion of the state in 301 A.D. The county has rich historical, cultural and unique linguistic heritage that dates back to the 4th century A.D. Foreign languages are spoken throughout the Republic by the majority of population and all types of tours are catered for.

Advisor, John Chekian, is well-acquainted with the unique delights that Armenia has to offer, particularly for those willing to make sorties beyond the capital. John can bring the country alive for prospective visitors because of his intimate knowledge of the country, the culture and its language. His passion for Armenia will add an extra dimension to travel for those willing to move away from mainstream destinations.

Georgian and Armenian churches and monasteries are, almost without exception, built in stunning locations. Both Georgia and Armenia also have pre-Christian and pagan sites. Beautiful scenery is plentiful in both countries as Mount Ararat towers majestically over Yerevan and you can see the Caucasus Mountains from Tbilisi on a clear day.

The world’s longest cable car ride (5.7-km) called “Wings of Tatev” opened in Armenia on October 16 2010. It takes you up to the medieval Tatev Monastery (UNESCO) located in the Tatev village of Syunik region in southern Armenia.  A one-way journey takes 11 minutes. At its highest point over the gorge, the car travels 320 m above ground level.

Armenia has a unique historical, cultural and linguistic heritage dating back to the 4th Century A.D. Yerevan, its capital, is older than Rome. Armenia was the first state in the world to accept Christianity as its sole religion in 301 A.D and this fast developing, beautiful landlocked country boasts culture and cultivation as a foil to its stark rocky countryside.
