    OVERVIEW
    DETAILED ITINERARY

    Day 1     Arrive Ljubljana
(B, D)
    On arrival in Ljubljana you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Tonight there is a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Ljubljana.

    Day 2     Dolenjska 
(B, D)
    Depart Ljubljana to view the remains of Soteska Castle and admire the surrounding baroque park.  Continue to the nearby Tufa formations in the Krka River. Later enjoy local delicacies and try a glass of Cvicek, the region’s own home-made wine in a typical vineyard cottage.  Then proceed to the Dolenjska Toplice thermal spa for some relaxation. 

    Day 3   Postojna Cave and Lipica to Slovenian Coast  (B, D)
    Travel to the Postojna Cave.  You see the cave from an electric train that runs through the karst tunnel system.  Then visit Predjama Castle. Continue to the Lipica Stud Farm, home to the white Lipizzaner horses.  There is the opportunity to attend training sessions of the classical Lipizzaner riding school. This afternoon arrive at the Slovenian coast for dinner and overnight.

    Day 4   Secovlje Saline, Portoroz and Piran
 (B, D)
    Visit Piran, a Mediterranean harbour town in the Slovene Istria region that is a living museum with preserved medieval structures, fascinating architecture, and a rich cultural heritage.  Time to relax on the beach, and visit the local Maritime Museum or spend time at one of the restaurants along the seaside promenade. Next, travel to the Secovlje Salina Nature Park.

    Day 5  Julian Alps 
(B, D)
    An early journey to the beautiful Slovene north coast.  Take a rafting trip down the wild rapids of the River Soca (from April to October). Continue to the town of Kobarid to visit the Church of St. Anthony. Conclude the day in Dre?nica, an idyllic village at the heart of the Julian Alps popular with paragliders.  With prior notice, tandem paragliding flights can be organized.  Overnight in this village beneath the Julian Alps.

    Day 6    Kobarid trugh Kranjska Gora to Bled  (B, D)
    Visit the Soca River to view its source high up in the mountains. Then cross Vršic, Slovenia’s highest mountain pass. Continue to the town of Kranjska Gora.  After lunch travel to Bled, famous for its beautiful lake. Upon arrival, travel to the island by traditional boat. To conclude the day, there is an opportunity to enjoy a delicious slice of cream cake, one of Bled’s culinary specialties. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure.

    Day 7     Bohinj and Ljubljana 
(B, D)
    Hike along Blejski Vintgar, a trail carved into the vertical walls of the surrounding hills and lined with waterfalls, pools, and rapids created by the Radovna River.  Enjoy a canoe trip along the river or try the natural “water slides” carved into the stone by the river and its streams.  Continue to Bohinj to taste some of the traditional dishes from this region.  There is also an opportunity to discover the beauty of the extraordinary glacier Lake Bohinj from a boat, canoe, or kayak. Overnight in Ljubljana

    Day 8    Ljubljana
(B, D)
    A guided walking tour of the old centre of Ljubljana. This evening at leisure.

    Day 9    Depart Ljubljana
(B)
    You will be transferred to the airport.
