The train service from Zurich is spectacular, passing Lake Luzern and the Brienzsee. Explore the town if time permits. Day 2: Meiringen to Grindelwald. (B) There are three possible ways to travel today and we will advise you of those options. Day 3: Grindelwald (B) You could take the cog railway ride using the highest railway in Europe to reach the Jungfraujoch and stopping at Eigerwand en route. There are several walking options also. For those wanting a rest from walking, there is plenty on offer including boat trips or train rides. Day 4: Grindelwald to Lauterbrunnen. (B, D) Ascend to Kleine Scheidegg, descend to Launterbrunnen via the car free town of Wengen. You can make the day harder by taking the Eiger trail or easier by taking the train to Alpiglen and then down from Wengen. Day 5: Lauterbrunnen (B, D) This valley boats spectacular waterfalls. From here you can visit Murren, the highest village in the Bernese Oberland and then take the cable car up to the Schilthorn for a 360 degree view from the Jura to the Black Fiorest. Day 6: Lauterbrunnen to Zermatt (B) Take an early train to Zermatt to allow yourself a good afternoon’s walking or relaxing. Zermatt is the quintessential Swiss town, a mountain-lover’s magnet. Day 7: Zermatt (B, D) Various inspiring walks are available: a walk in the shadow of the Matterhorn (9 kms/ 3-4 hours), the Trift Valley leading to Trift and the Mettelhorn as well as other Zermatt attractions. Day 8:Depart Zermatt (B) Hourly train service to Zurich/Geneva airports changing en route in Bern. Included: - 7 nights accommodation in 2 and 3 star hotels and inns
