Day 2: Yerevan city tour- Etchmiadzin-Zvartnots (~60 km, ~ 7 hours) (B, D) City tour of Yerevan. A small part of the capital city's 3,000-year history has survived. In the second half of the day the highlight will be Armenian History Museum, where the important archaeological collection from the Stone Age is a must see. Then travel to Echmiadzin Church, built between the years 301 - 303 AD. Return to Yerevan with a stop at the ruins of Zvartnots temple - the pearl of the 7th C architecture (UNESCO World Heritage listed). Overnight in Yerevan. Day 3: Yerevan - Khor Virap –Areni - Noravank –Goris (~ 250 km, ~ 8 hours) (B, L) Sightseeing tour to Khor-Virap monastery 4-17th CC. From there you visit Areni wine factory to taste local wine made from special vines. Noravank (“New Monastery”) is 122 km away from Yerevan. Arrival in Goris with a pause at the gates of the town to admire the panoramic lan dscape views. Overnight in Goris. Day 4: Goris – Khndzoresk – Tatev monastery- Goris (~ 90 km, ~ 8 hours) (B, L) Tour of Goris city visiting the Dig Dig stones – a natural monument. Goris has some of the most attractive of Armenian architecture in the country. Excursion to the monastic complex of Tatev (listed by UNESCO via the longest cable car ride in the world, the ropeway from Halidzor Village to the monastery above the beautiful Vorotan canyon. Tatev is an architectural masterpiece dating from the 10th C. Continue on to explore Khndzoresk which is a cave village and that exhibits many signs of past settlement sthroughout the valley. Overnight in Goris. Day 5: Goris - Karahunge – Jermuk – Yerevan (~ 280 km, 7 hours) (B, L) Tour to Karahunge (Stonehenge), ancient observatory. It is located at 1770 m above sea level and is spread over 7 hectares. In 2001 in this area many rock paintings were discovered that consist of drawings of great astronomical interest. Drive to Jermuk city, one of the resort towns of Armenia, famous for its hot springs and the mineral water that is bottled in the vicinity. Return to Yerevan and visit a fruit market where the best Armenian dried fruits are sold. Overnight in Yerevan. Day 6: Yerevan – Sevan – Goshavank – Dilijan – Yerevan ( ~ 260, ~ 7 hours) (B, L) Travel to Lake Sevan, 110 kms north of Yerevan. It is one of the highest freshwater lakes in the world. fFom Sevan in the North of Armenia you travel through a spectacular forested region called Dilijan. Return to Yerevan. Visit the open-air market of Vernissage that bustles with hundreds of vendors who sell a variety of crafts on weekends. Overnight in Yerevan. Day 7: Matenadaran - Garni – Geghard – Yerevan (~ 80 km, ~ 5 hours) (B, L, D) Visit to Matenadaran, a depository of ancient manuscripts from all over Europe and Asia. It also contains the first copy of the Bible in Armenian. Continue to the Garni Temple, built in the first century A.D.by the Armenian King Tiridates and dedicated to a heathen god. Lunch at a local house in Garni where you can observe Armenian national bread “lavash” being baked and a barbeque being cooked in an underground stove called a “tonir”. After a visit to Geghard monastery, drive back to Yerevan. Overnight in Yerevan Day 8: Depart Yerevan (B) Transfer to the airport. Included: - Accommodation in first class hotels for 7 nights

DATES Throughout 2011 | The Longest Aerial Cable Car Ride in the World – Southern Armenia The world’s longest cable car ride (5.7-km) called “Wings of Tatev” opened in Armenia on October 16 2010. It takes you up to the medieval Tatev Monastery (UNESCO) located in the Tatev village of Syunik region in southern Armenia. A one-way journey takes 11 minutes.
